You can also get pulled over for a taillight that doesn’t work and you could end up with a ticket. Removing a taillight does not take a long time and requires only basic tools. If you know how to remove a taillight, you can easily replace a damaged or broken taillight.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You'll Need:

- Wrench

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Socket

- Ratchet

Instructions

Step 1

Disconnect the battery by removing the black cable from the battery. Use a wrench to loosen the battery cable’s bolt and then remove the cable.

Step 2

Open the trunk. Look at the trunk liner on the top rear of the inside of the trunk. When removed, this will expose the tail light.

Step 3

Unscrew the four clips that hold the lining in place. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver. Then pull back the felt lining.

Step 4

Take off the four nuts that hold the tail light cover in place. Remove the nuts with a socket and ratchet. Pull then cover away to expose the light bulb.

Step 5

Twist the light and pull it off its dock. Remove the bulb from the light by twisting it to the left.
